We’ve made it.
The 2025 NFL Draft started out with less hype than almost any draft I can remember in recent years. Now? I can’t wait for it to start. The lack of consensus around anything outside the top three (and even that could be shaken up by trade) is unlike any first round in recent memory. Pairing and one player to one team (other than Tennessee and Cam Ward) feels like an excercise in futility.
I have no idea what will happen tonight or this weekend, but I do have some predictions for the players that will fly off the board.
Here are my 10 bold predictions for the 2025 NFL Draft class.
Travis Hunter will be by far the best player, an instant impact star, and future Hall of Famer. I think we’re underselling what this kid just accomplished. If he can stay healthy (a big if based on the number of snaps he plans to play), we’re talking about the most valuable non-QB in the sport. He’s a frachise-changing player.
The news cycle around Shedeur Sanders has lost the plot. His personality and confidence isn’t the issue. It’s his game. I just don’t see it. He’s more of a Teddy Bridgewater, fringe starter/back up over the next 10 years.
The non-first round wide receivers will outplay the first rounders. I’m not sold on Tetairoa McMillan or Matthew Golden. Don’t be surprised when Jaylin Noel, Jack Bech, Kyle Williams and Jaylin Lane have better NFL careers.
Gray Zabel, not Will Campbell or Kelvin Banks, will be he best offensive lineman in the class.
Derrick Harmon, not Mason Graham, will be the best interior defensive lineman in the class.
This will be be remembered as on the of best tight end classes of all time. Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland are future All-Pros. Mason Taylor will be a Pro Bowler. And don’t sleep on Harold Fannin Jr. from Bowling Green. Four future stars.
If there’s a sleeper in a down quarterback class, it’s Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel. There’s Brock Purdy-ish potential, if he lands with the right team and coaching staff.
Shavon Revel Jr. is this year’s Quinyon Mitchell.
Jahdae Barron is this year’s Cooper DeJean.
Mike Green will have the most career sacks of any pass rusher in this class.
The boring (yet smart) pick the Eagles can make tonight.
I’m walking in the Eagles Autism Challenge on May 17. Anything you can donate would be very appreciated. It’s for a great cause.
