That was a beat down.

Forget the final score. Forget the total yardage, largely amassed in garbage time.

The Super Bowl wasn’t close.

You know it. I know it. The whole world knows it. The Seattle Seahawks were the best team on the field in Santa Clara last night, and have been the best team in pro football for the majority of the 2025 season. They earned the belt. They hoisted the Lombardi Trophy. It was their year.

As for the Eagles? I choose to look at this season—and the fall out—differently than others do.

Some may see a Seahawks title with Sam Darnold and scoff.

“Really? If the Eagles we’re just 15 percent better on offense… “

You can feel that way. There’s some logic to it, I suppose. But let’s be real: The Eagles weren’t in Seattle (or Los Angeles’ class) this year. If it wasn’t for a terrible division, perhaps Philadelphia’s flaws would have had them flirting with missing the playoffs all together. This year was humbling.

It was also necessary.

The Eagles can’t pretend things are fine with the offense any longer. Big decisions are on the horizon with the salary cap structure, quarterback, and head coach. If the offense magically got them back to, say, the NFC Championship Game, perhaps it would have been harder to make tough decisions.

I would have loved to have been in another Super Bowl too. But this season played out exactly how it had to. It wasn’t a missed opportunity. It was a necessary look in the mirror to better the future.

Landon Dickerson is reportedly considering retirement this offseason.
