Here's a Phillies spring training trade idea

This swap could help both teams navigate early-season injuries.

The spring training injury bug has started to roll through the Grapefruit League.

For the Phillies, that meant Weston Wilson (who had the inside track at a bench job, and likely platoon partner for some combination of Max Kepler and Brandon Marsh) is going to be down at least six weeks with an oblique injury.

So, now what?

Sure, there’s Buddy Kennedy. Edmundo Sosa is taking outfield reps. And one more shot for Johan Rojas looms. But that sure feels light from the right side of the plate, especially when we’re talking about regulars in Kepler (.655 OPS) and Marsh (.582 OPS) that historically don’t hit left-handed pitching.

But what if there was a possible trade route for the Phillies to add a bench bat that does hit lefties while subtracting a player that no longer fits on the club? And what if that player happened to be a former All-Star?
