Ranking NFL Divisional Round games by upset potential

Which favorite is going down?

When I think about Divisional Round Weekend in the NFL, a few things pop to mind:

First (and second, as they are intertwined): It’s the final and best real football weekend of the year. After this weekend (and Monday’s Notre Dame-Ohio State title game) we only have three more football games until late August. After weeding out the teams that didn’t belong last week, it’s the best of the best with everything on the line.

But the other thing I think about is upsets. For some reason, this weekend always stands out as the one with memorable underdogs continuing magical runs. Perhaps that’s why I chose Marty Schottenheimer as the lead photo today, with my childhood (and young adult) memories of his Browns, Chiefs and Chargers teams getting picked off on this weekend.

Maybe you think about the 2001 or 2008 Eagles, or Rex Ryan’s Jets, or Tom Coughlin’s Jaguars, but we all can remember them.

So let’s rank each Divisional Round game by upset alert watch, from least to most likely.

My full thoughts and picks on each game vs. the spread can be heard on WIP Daily.
