The Phillies have built the NL’s best record by destroying bad teams.

If they’re bad, beat them because they’re bad.

I’m not sure if that’s actually a rallying cry in the Phillies clubhouse this season, but it sure would feel appropriate.

After a four-game sweep over the (all-time bad) Colorado Rockies, the Phillies enter play on May 23 with the best record in the National League, and just a half game off the pace of the best in the sport.

While we can point to many reasons why, here’s the biggest and simplest: They are crushing bad teams.

And the dominance might be even more than you had imagined.
