The eye test never lies

T.J. McConnell sparked the Indiana Pacers to a dramatic Game 3 win in the NBA Finals.

Trust your eyes.

As I watched ex-Sixers guard T.J. McConnell spark the Indiana Pacers in a thrilling Game 3 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder last night, a few thoughts came to mind.

Happiness for McConnell, a player I always liked on the Sixers. The pure joy on his face as he helped take down the title favorites was like seeing Andy Dufresne on the beach in Shawshank Redemption. McConnell escaped Philadelphia’s non-winning culture to find it with Rick Carlisle in Indiana.

Longing for that kind of excitement to return to sports in Philadelphia this time of year, maybe one day soon. We need Sixers or Flyers deep playoff runs. The electricity can’t be topped

But mostly I thought about the eye test, and the first time I watched McConnell play as a pro.
