The Jalen Hurts 'Hard Knocks' moment that should be getting more publicity

Yes, Jalen Hurts took accountability and talked to his teammates during the game. But something else stood out to me while watching Hard Knocks.

It’s funny what becomes a story and what doesn’t.

On Tuesday, HBO debuted Episode 1 of this season’s in-season Hard Knocks, featuring the NFC East. It was must watch, for every reason you can imagine as this Eagles season takes twists and turns.

This clip seemed to catch the most attention.

It’s a good one that illuminated a couple of things:

  1. The miscommunication was Hurts’ fault. DeVonta Smith makes it clear that he did what they had discussed vs. that look. Hurts seems to realize he was in the wrong on where the ball should have gone, and takes accountability.

  2. Hurts is on the sideline communicating with his teammates, especially after his own mistakes. The sideline looks far more like a productive work environment than we’ve either assumed or been led to believe this season.

Yet it wasn’t that scene that stood out to me. It was something from the clips of Eagles practice that hasn’t been clipped and shared thousands of times.
