The long-lasting impact of the NBA's illegal gambling scandal

You know it’s going to be a different kind of day when an active NBA head coach is arrested by the FBI.

Yet that’s exactly where we were yesterday when Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups, current player Terry Rozier, and assistant coach (and former player) Damon Jones were all arrested on alleged illegal gambling activity. The allegations (and potential dots being connected) of all three are ugly. Illegal gambling rings, fraud, cheating and illegal information being given out to sports bettors might just be the tip of the iceberg.

For the NBA, it’s a mess. For the sports world, it’s a black eye—but one that will subside in time.
