Sometimes the past repeats itself.

When it happens, it’s almost never a good thing. We’re seeing that play out now with the 2026 Phillies outfield, projected as one of the worst among any (perceived) contender across the sport.

And while it wasn’t a surprise, the news of Harrison Bader to the Giants cemented the truth: The Phillies outfield—Brandon Marsh/Otto Kemp in left, Justin Crawford in center, and Adolis Garcia in right field—is filled with question marks, false hope and too much uncertainty.

It feels like Déjà vu all over again with a Philadelphia team wasting years of a championship window due to complete mismanagement of a position.

The Phillies outfield has become the Eagles wide receiving group before Terrell Owens arrived in 2004.

Think about the names over the last three years: Jake Cave, Johan Rojas, Josh Harrison, Christian Pache, Dalton Guthrie, Weston Wilson, Whit Merrifield, Kody Clemens, Austin Hays, David Dahl, and Cal Stevenson (shoutout Joe from Northeast Philly).

That doesn’t even include Nick Castellanos, give $100M to be a rock in a corner spot only to end up dangling by a roster thread as the franchise tries to dump the final year of his deal.

Now think back to the Eagles wide receivers in the three-year span pre-Owens: James Thrash, Todd Pinkston, Freddie Mitchell, Damaene Douglas, Antonio Freeman, Greg Lewis, and Billy McMullen.

Those Eagles teams wasted years trying to pretend a below-average group was good enough. These Phillies teams are doing the same.

Time is a flat circle.

Does anyone want the Eagles offensive coordinator job?
