Once in a while, a player changes a team the minute he walks in the door.

Sometimes, it’s about overwhelming talent and stardom. The floor and ceiling are both immediately raised for franchises when those players step foot in the building. But not ever difference maker has to be a LeBron James talent.

Others do it in a different way.

For the Sixers, one arrived last June when Daryl Morey did the smart thing by picking Baylor guard V.J. Edgecombe.

After years of the Sixers’ scale tipping too far in the favor of loser energy in big moments, the Sixers found a kid with championship ingredients. It was evident the moment we first heard him talk, learned about his work ethic, and saw him on the court (ironically in Boston) for his first NBA game.

Then it went to a different level in Game 7 vs. the Celtics.
