Sometimes things that seem complicated really aren’t as hard as we make them out to be.

For Daryl Morey and Sixers brass, let’s hope keeping it simple is the mantra leading into the NBA trade deadline—especially when it comes to the present and future of rookie guard V.J. Edgecombe.

As the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors swirl, the Sixers are connected. That makes sense. They are in the playoff mix. It’s a big market. Morey likes to swing big on stars. Tyrese Maxey is a prime-aged player coming into his own as an All-Star starter. There’s an opening in the Eastern Conference. I get the reasons to entertain a package involving Edgecombe for one of the best players in the world.

But it stops making sense when you think about it from this (simple) prism.
