The Zack Baun comparison that's been stuck in my head
Re-signing Zack Baun was crucial for the Eagles offseason. The star linebacker is headed back to Philadelphia on a three-year contract.

Now we’re cooking with gas.
Adding money to Saquon Barkley’s deal was a nice gesture, but didn’t move the needle on the Eagles offseason or take them closer to repeating as Super Bowl champions. Re-signing Zack Baun did.
The deal is huge for the Eagles, but worth the risk on a player that only has one year of great play on film. Baun’s impact was immense in 2024 from the opening snap of the season. He rightfully earned Defensive Player of the Year votes. In a city that values defense and linebacker play, I can say this with a straight face: It was one of the best linebacker seasons we’ve ever seen.
When news broke of Baun’s three-year, $51M deal to sign before hitting the open market next week, I couldn’t stop thinking about a Baun comparison made recently by a Super Bowl champion that’s been stuck in my head for weeks.
