What the Phillies have already proven

The 2025 Phillies came into the season with something to prove.

I’d argue they’ve already done that.

After last night’s rout of the New York Mets, the Phillies magic number in the NL East is down to seven. We’re watching a team that’s gained 10.5 games on the Mets since the trade deadline, which is even more remarkable when you consider the three-game sweep at Citi Field in August. This team is rolling, running away from the competition, and positioning themselves for the best possible chance at October success.

And yes, I know that’s the point. This season was supposed to be about October success. That’s still true. But along the way, the Phillies have proven something else that most of us were never totally sure of over the last few years.
