Another draft is in the books.
With the 2025 NFL Draft complete, the Eagles class (outside of undrafted free agents) is complete. We’ll have the chance to truly evaluate this group years from now, but why wait that long to assess winners and losers based on what the Eagles did?
Here’s who I won and lost the draft, based on how the Eagles navigated the board.
WINNERS
Howie Roseman: Even when Roseman doesn’t actually win, he wins. The Eagles received high marks almost across the board from experts. The first-round selection of Jihaad Campbell could be a home run. I’m a fan of Andrew Mubuka out of Texas in Round 2. Ty Robinson looks like a monster out of Nebraska. My only qualms: Why not add add a veteran through trade, no developmental tight end, and only two picks in the first three rounds.
Tyler Steen: The former third-round pick escaped the weekend without any more real camp competition. Depending on what you think of Kenyon Green and Tyler Keegan, this could be Steen’s job to lose. I’d keep an eye on Jedrick Wills as this year’s Mekhi Becton in a late free agency move.
Hugh Douglas: Expensive on offense, cheap on defense. Luxury, necessity. Something like that.
Dallas Goedert: Perhaps there’s a path to mending fences and bringing Goedert back for one more year. When the Eagles passed on Harold Fannin Jr. at the end of the second round, their best chance at landing the next long-term tight end went out the window for another year.
LOSERS
Jordan Davis: The May 2 deadline for his fifth-year option is looming. Robinson may not be a true nose tackle, but he’s a player with immense power. The 2026 defensive line could feature Robinson, Moro Ojomo and Jalen Carter as starters, with Davis in another city.
Sydney Brown: Mukuba wasn’t taken to sit. The Eagles track record in Round 2 in recent years (Jalen Hurts, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Cooper DeJean) has been incredible. Perhaps a Brown-Mukuba duo could emerge, but Reed Blankenship starting feels like an early-2025 lock. Brown will have to fend off Mukuba for the job.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson: Kyle McCord looks like he has a real shot to become a developmental quarterback here. DTR’s time with the Eagles could be very short.
The Jalen Milroe dream: Would he have been the pick if he was on the board at No. 96? We’ll never know. I think the Seahawks got a good one. He could take Sam Darnold’s job within a year or two.
I’ll be walking in the Eagles Autism Challenge on May 17. Anything you can give to a great cause is much appreciated. Here’s the link to donate.
